| Do I need a custom bike?
Asking this question is equivalent to asking whether or not you need a carbon bike or clipless pedals. If you spend a significant amount of time cycling, a custom bike will give you the best combination of comfort and performance. In fact, we find that many cyclists can only reach a comfortable position - while maintaining the performance of a racing frame - with a custom bike: their bodies just don't fit the stock geometries favored by mass-market manufacturers. But even if you can fit a stock bike, you often have to make multiple (and sometimes costly) adjustments to get it to your best position - and sometimes compromise the handling of the bike. With a custom frame, you obtain performance gains, as it will set you up in your "sweet spot," a configuration where power output, aerodynamics and weight distribution are perfectly optimized. Most of our clients tell us that their GURU is by far the most stable, best-handling bike they have ever had; custom geometry has a large part to play in that impression. Furthermore, many of our models offer ride tunability based on individual tube selection or carbon lay-up. This further optimizes the ride characteristics for each cyclist.
